KNICKS, SIXERS SWAP OUTLAW, MOULTRIE--THEN WAIVE BOTH

The Philadelphia 76ers acquired combo forward Travis Outlaw, a second-round draft pick in 2019, and the option to exchange second-round draft picks in 2018 from New York Knicks for power forward-center Arnett Moultrie.

What does it give the Philadelphia 76ers
For the young, rebuilding Sixers this is about adding another future asset (the 2019 second-rounder). They also clear up a roster spot (by moving Moultrie then waiving Outlaw), helping them get down to the league-mandated roster size of 15. Philly does take on some salary here, however--Outlaw earns roughly $2 million more than Moultrie in the coming campaign.

What does it give the New York Knicks
The Knicks have already waived Moultrie, so for New York this is about saving money (since Moultrie's salary is about $2 million less than Outlaw's for the season). The move also aids the Knicks in getting down to a 15-man roster, and probably further opens up playing time for fast-improving combo forward {P Quincy Acy}.

Fantasy impact
Moultrie was unlikely to see significant minutes for the Sixers in the coming season so this deal has little impact fantasy-wise for Philadelphia. On the Knicks side, Outlaw might have seen some role player minutes so--as mentioned above--this probably frees up even more playing time for promising rotation player {P Quincy Acy} at both forward spots. Acy's a sleeper for the upcoming season.
