SUNS ADD WRIGHT FROM THE CELTICS

The Phoenix Suns acquired center-power forward Brandan Wright from the Boston Celtics for a conditional first-round draft pick in 2015 or '16, plus a trade exception worth roughly $5 million.

What does it give the Phoenix Suns
In big man Wright, the Suns land a solid backup who could move his way up the team's depth chart. Wright's athleticism should make him a perfect fit for Phoenix's up-tempo style, and he also brings a much-needed element of rim protection for the undersized Suns. This is a nice move by a surprisingly competitive young Phoenix team for both now and down the road.

What does it give the Boston Celtics
For the Celtics this deal is yet again about the future. The first-rounder (which originally belonged to Minnesota) is protected in 2015 and 2016 for selections 1-12, but could still land a solid prospect. If Boston doesn't use the first-rounder this summer or next, they get 2nd-round picks from Minny in 2016 and 2017. The trade exception is worth over $5 million, and can help the Celts with financial flexibility over the next year.

Fantasy impact
Wright should see a small boost fantasy-wise. He was barely playing for the Celtics (in the few games since he was recently acquired by Boston from Dallas), and he knows the Western Conference better than the Eastern. His departure is also good fantasy news for the likes of Celtics big men Tyler Zeller, Kelly Olynyk, and Jared Sullinger (who should continue to play reguarly in Boston's post). The news isn't as rosy for Phoenix pivots Alex Len or Miles Plumlee, who may both lose minutes to Wright.
