WIZ MOVES MENTOR MILLER TO SACTO FOR SESSIONS
The Washington Wizards acquired combo guard Ramon Sessions from the Sacramento Kings for point guard Andre Miller.
What does it give the Washington Wizards
The Wizards are in the thick of the Eastern Conference playoff race and the aging Miller wasn't as big a factor for them this season as anticipated. Enter Sessions, a younger guy who can play some shooting guard--a fairly pressing need, considering the recent toe injury to star two-guard Bradley Beal. Washington will be on the hook for another year of Sessions' contract (while Miller's deal would have expired), but it's very affordable.
What does it give the Sacramento Kings
New Kings head coach George Karl is a huge fan of Miller from their days together in Denver, so it's not surprising Sacramento decided to bring Miller aboard. He'll show the young Kings how Karl likes to run the offense, and will mentor current Kings point guards Darren Collison, Nik Stauskas, and Ray McCallum. It won't be at all surprising if Sacto re-signs Miller after this season (because of his needed veteran presence and his relationship to Karl).
Fantasy impact
Both Sessions and Miller are probably slightly more fantasy-appealing after this trade than they were before it, since both will probably play a little more now. That said, neither is pickup-worthy right now. Keep an eye on both moving forward.
