PACERS DEAL FOR ROOKIE BARAC
The Indiana Pacers acquired center Stanko Barac from the Miami Heat for a second-round draft pick in 2009.
What does it give the Indiana Pacers
Stanko won't be a big contributor for the Pacers anytime soon, but at least they worked their way into the draft. Indy didn't have any picks this year, and obviously like Stanko's combination of size and scoring ability. He has some bust potential, but at least the Indiana faithful have something to talk about.
What does it give the Miami Heat
A little financial breathing room is what Miami gets here. The fact that the Heat asked for cash in their other draft-day trade suggests they need the money. They obviously didn't want to pay another draft pick salary, so they turned Stanko into a future pick. Not a bad move for a team that may not have had room for the terror of the Adriatic League.
