ROCKETS LAND GERALD GREEN

The Houston Rockets acquired small forward Gerald Green from the Minnesota Timberwolves for small forward Kirk Snyder.

What does it give the Houston Rockets
A cagey move by the Rockets here. Interestingly, with this deal they may have made up for their 2006 NBA Draft, when they gave Memphis the rights to Rudy Gay in return for Shane Battier. Green is a very similar player to Gay: hyper-athletic, a talented scorer, and a lanky guy who can play anywhere from shooting guard to power forward. He is at the very least insurance for the future, when Tracy McGrady slows down. At the best he will become an All-Star.

What does it give the Minnesota Timberwolves
Sometimes players and teams just don't click, and that may have been the case with the T-Wolves and Green. Minny's coaching staff never really gave Green a chance to shine, which is somewhat baffling considering they are a rebuilding squad and Green is one of the most athletic and gifted youngsters in the Association. In Snyder, the T-Wolves get an underrated scorer who can do a little of everything, but has seen his career somewhat sidetracked by injuries, inconsistency, and attitude issues.
