T-WOLVES LAND MILICIC
The Minnesota Timberwolves acquired Darko Milicic and cash from the New York Knicks for Brian Cardinal.
What does it give the Minnesota Timberwolves
The T-Wolves are taking on a little more salary here with Darko, possibly in the hope they can evaluate him down the stretch for the future. His contract is expriring but unlike Cardinal (whose deal is also up after this season) Milicic may still have some upside for the future. The cash helps off-set the difference in value between the contracts.
What does it give the New York Knicks
Cardinal's contract is up after this season, and while Milicic's was as well the Knicks stay true to their obvious focus of freeing up cap space for a big free agent run in the summer. Cardinal was at one time one of the NBA's more underrated players but is unlikely to see much court time in Gotham.
