KORVER TO JAZZ

The Utah Jazz acquired forward Kyle Korver from the Philadelphia 76ers for guard Gordan Giricek and a first-round draft pick.

What does it give the Utah Jazz
In Korver the Jazz land a proven outside marksman who can play both shooting guard and small forward. While his proclivity to jack up 3-pointers really doesn't make him an obvious fit with the Jazz (who don't like to shoot it from behind the arc), Korver is a talented scorer who can give Utah that perimeter option in games they need it. He more than fills the void left by Giricek as the top perimeter scorer off the bench, and he's also more talented and younger.

What does it give the Philadelphia 76ers
This move seems to be all about the future for the Sixers. New GM Ed Stefanski has made a solid (if unspectacular) opening move here by adding a first-round draft pick and the option of letting Giricek go after this season and freeing up about $4 Million in cap space. Giricek is an aging veteran who can probably help Philly win a few games, but he isn't likely in their long-term plans.
