KNICKS TRADE TWO FOR MALIK ROSE

The New York Knicks acquired forward Malik Rose and a future first-round draft pick from the San Antonio Spurs in exchange for center Nazr Mohammed and guard Jamison Brewer.

What does it give the New York Knicks
Yet another undersized, expensive power forward who can't score much. Rose joins Jerome Williams and Kurt Thomas to form one of the grittiest--and smallest--frontcourts in the NBA. Rose has potential, but where will he play? With Thomas, Williams, Mike Sweetney and now Maurice Taylor, the Knicks are now loaded with power forwards, most of whom have serious holes in their games.

What does it give the San Antonio Spurs
The center they've been looking for all season. Mohammed has struggled of late, but he's a hard-working beast in the paint who will give San Antonio one of the league's biggest front lines. Whether he can steal the starting center spot from Rasho Nesterovic remains to be seen, but he certainly gives the team the depth in the post they've been looking for all season. Brewer seems to be a throw-in.
