PRINTEZIS TO TORONTO

The Toronto Raptors acquired forward Giorgos Printezis from the San Antonio Spurs for a second-round draft pick in 2008.

What does it give the Toronto Raptors
For the Raptors, he is a great depth pick for the future in that he can stay in Europe for awhile and eventually make the leap to the NBA. The Raps and Spurs are probably the two top teams in the NBA when it comes to international scouting, and this move shows it. Printezis was one of the top sleepers in the draft, so it was no shocker he was scooped up by San Antonio. The Raps are doing a good job of stockpiling some of the more promising players in Europe.

What does it give the San Antonio Spurs
Something in return for a player they might not have kept. A second-rounder for a future second-rounder doesn't seem like a great deal, especially in a draft as deep as this one. But the Spurs already have a major stockpile of promising European stars, so many that they they have been trying to move them in recent years. Getting an extra pick for next year is a solid consolation prize for a player they probably don't have room for.
