RAPTORS GET TWO FOR ARAUJO

The Toronto Raptors acquired forward Kris Humphries and center Robert Whaley from the Utah Jazz for center Rafael Araujo.

What does it give the Toronto Raptors
Two very underrated players who both have the talent to start in the NBA. Humphries and Whaley are still raw, but Humphries is still young at 21 and Whaley is a true sleeper. Neither were playing much in Utah because of the team's star-studded front line, but both have the talent to eventually be above-average players. Humphries is a rebounding demon with a lot of passion and incredible athleticism. His game is similar to that of onetime NBA star Tom Gugliotta. Meanwhile Whaley is a somewhat undersized center who nonetheless showed promise as a rookie. He has had off-the-court problems, but if he can mature and stay focused he may eventually start for Toronto. This trade is a steal for the Raptors, who get two players with significant upside in return for a guy who was one of their biggest busts in recent memory.

What does it give the Utah Jazz
A local college hero who won't start for them. Araujo isn't as bad as some of the hype in Toronto says he was, but he also never should have been chosen eighth overall in 2004 draft. He has a wide body and good hands, but he's a little undersized for center in the NBA and he's not very athletic. Utah is the perfect destination for him, because their fan-base knows him from his days at nearby Brigham Young University. Araujo will essentially fill the role left by the retiring Greg Ostertag, as a shot-blocking lane-clogger off the bench who can use up his fouls and get the occasional garbage bucket. Humphries and Whaley are both more talented than Araujo but Humphries was stuck behind Andrei Kirilenko and Mehmet Okur, and Whaley has had troubles off the court.
