BULLS SIGN-&-TRADE FOR BOOZER
The Chicago Bulls acquired power forward/center Carlos Boozer and a second-draft pick in 2011 from the Utah Jazz for Mario Austin.
What does it give the Chicago Bulls
In inking free agent Boozer, Chicago gets a dominant NBA force in his prime, one of the league's most effective low-post scorers and rebounders. The Bulls get help here from the Jazz in signing him to a bigger contract (since under NBA rules Utah can pay him more than Chicago).
What does it give the Utah Jazz
The Jazz have a superb replacement waiting to start at power forward in Paul Millsap, so actually may not miss Boozer too much. The trade exception they get here is worth roughly $13 Million, meaning over the next year they can add players of that salary-range from teams looking to use the exception to get rid of salary. The second-rounder is a nice add-on.
