PATS PICK UP UNDERRATED TIGHT END O'SHAUGHNESSY

The New England Patriots acquired tight end James O'Shaughnessy and a 6th-round draft pick (no. 216 overall) in 2017 from the Kansas City Chiefs for a 5th-round draft pick (no. 183 overall) in 2017.

What does it give the New England Patriots
The Pats later flipped the sixth-rounder to Dallas, so for them this deal was clearly about landing O'Shaugnessy. The underrated tight end is a nice addition for New England because he has a chance to potentially fill the void left by Martellus Bennett. O'Shaughnessy is a talented and athletic pass-catching type of tight end who not only gives New England insurance in case Rob Gronkowski gets injured again, but he provides yet another above-average receiving option for an always-lethal pass attack.

What does it give the Kansas City Chiefs
The Chiefs used their upgraded draft selection (no. 183 overall) on Ukeme Eligwe, addressing a team need for more linebacker depth. He has the raw talent to possibly be a bit of a steal here, and as mentioned helps fill a positional requirement for KC. That said, the Chiefs might eventually regret giving up on the talented O'Shaughnessy.

Fantasy impact
This is a classic move by the Patriots: add an underrated potential regular at little cost. O'Shaughnessy has the goods to be New England's second-best pass-catching tight end option in 2017 (even ahead of the block-first Dwayne Allen). Meanwhile, for the Chiefs there's little change fantasy-wise since Travis Kelce was ahead of O'Shaughnessy on the depth chart and the latter wasn't given much of a receiving workload.
