JETS GET D-BACK HELP IN ROBINSON

The New York Jets acquired cornerback Rashard Robinson from the San Francisco 49ers for a fifth-round draft pick in 2018.

What does it give the New York Jets
This is a nice move for the short-term and possibly the long-term for New York. Head coach Todd Bowles specializes in coaching defensive backs, and Robinson is a young (age 22) talent who was a fairly regular starter for San Francisco. The Jets are currently dealing with injuries in the secondary to rotational regulars Buster Skrine and Morris Claiborne, so Robinson should be useful right away.

What does it give the San Francisco 49ers
With zero wins this season the Niners are clearly already in overhaul mode (as evidenced by their other deadline deal, acquiring quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo from New England). Robinson lost his starting gig this season, so he obviously fell out of favor with the coaching staff. The fifth-round draft pick is a solid return for a backup player.

Fantasy impact
Even if Robinson somehow finds himself currying steady snaps down the stretch, don't expect much fantasy-wise in Individual Defensive Player leagues.
