COWBOYS CORRAL DT WARD FOR RETURN MAN SWITZER
The Dallas Cowboys acquired defensive tackle Jihad Ward from the Dallas Cowboys for return man / wide receiver Ryan Switzer.
What does it give the Dallas Cowboys
Switzer is one of the NFL's better all-round return men, but in Ward the Cowboys get a promising potential starter at defensive tackle. A second-round draft pick in 2016 by Oakland (No. 44 overall), Ward can collapse the pocket and put pressure on the backfield. Switzer was made expendable as both a return man and wideout by the recent acquisition of Tavon Austin.
What does it give the Las Vegas Raiders
In Switzer the Raiders receive a very good returner (on both punts and kickoffs) who has some untapped talent as a wideout. Oakland picked up defensive tackle P.J. Hall in Round 2 of this year's NFL Draft, and he appears to be Ward's replacement at defensive tackle.
Fantasy impact
It's unlikely this trade results in any fantasy-relevant developments for the 2018 season, since Switzer will probably stay mostly focused on return duties and Ward is an unproven young defensive line prospect.
