ELI HAROLD HEADS TO DETROIT

The Detroit Lions acquired linebacker/defensive end Eli Harold from the San Francisco 49ers for a conditional seventh-round draft pick in 2020.

What does it give the Detroit Lions
The Lions are seeking additional depth to their linebacking corps, so the hope here is that Harold will be able to crack Detroit's final 53-man roster prior to Week 1 of the 2018 regular season. If yes, he will add a little more pass rush to the Lions defense.

What does it give the San Francisco 49ers
The 49ers appear happy with merely parting ways with Harold here, as the club is expected to insert Dekoda Watson into Harold's former strong side linebacker spot. The draft pick might be of little consequence here, so San Francisco simply wanted Harold gone.

Fantasy impact
Harold might become a decent source for sacks in 2018, but first he must actually make the Lions this preseason. He is too risky to draft in IDP leagues at this point.
