DEKODA WATSON TO THE BRONCOS

The Denver Broncos acquired linebacker/defensive end Dekoda Watson and a sixth-round draft pick (No. 212 overall) in 2019 from the San Francisco 49ers for a fifth-round draft pick (No. 148 overall) in 2019.

What does it give the Denver Broncos
For the Broncos, Watson will provide some depth at outside linebacker behind veteran superstar Von Miller and emerging edge rusher Bradley Chubb. The sixth rounder acquired in this deal was traded away to Carolina.

What does it give the San Francisco 49ers
For San Francisco, moving out veteran linebacker Watson was done in order to move up 64 spots in the draft (which is significant). With the 148th pick (Round 5), the 49ers selected linebacker Dre Greenlaw.

Fantasy impact
Watson will rotate into the Broncos lineup occasionally in 2019, mostly in sub packages. He therefore has little fantasy value. It remains to be seen how the 49ers plan to utilize Greenlaw, but he too will likely play a reserve role at linebacker.
