DARRON LEE LANDS IN KANSAS CITY

The Kansas City Chiefs acquired linebacker Darron Lee from the New York Jets for a sixth-round draft pick in 2020.

What does it give the Kansas City Chiefs
In Lee, the Chiefs land a mobile and somewhat versatile linebacker who played inside in the Jets' 3-4 scheme. With Kansas City moving to a 4-3 base defense in 2019, Lee will probably fill a role either on the weak or strong side. He will have to fight for a place in the starting lineup on a much better squad and is not a lock to earn a job in training camp.

What does it give the New York Jets
The Jets cleaned house and dismissed GM Mike Macagnan earlier in the day, so the first order of business for interim GM/head coach Adam Gase was to ship Lee, one of Maccagnan's first-round mistakes as General Manager, to KC for a sixth rounder in '20. Clearly, the Jets did not get enough back for a former first rounder but Gase is putting his stamp early.

Fantasy impact
Lee should not be drafted in IDP leagues this year, as his status with the Chiefs is currently unknown. Even at his best, he really is not a major fantasy player.
