RUDY FORD FOR BRUCE HECTOR
The Philadelphia Eagles acquired safety Rudy Ford from the Arizona Cardinals for defensive lineman Bruce Hector.
What does it give the Philadelphia Eagles
This is a deal that should help both players involved keep their NFL jobs. The Eagles felt the need to add another safety at this time, so Ford is a decent pickup at this time. He will likely make the Eagles' final 53-man roster to begin the 2019 regular season. Hector was probably on the roster bubble before this trade.
What does it give the Arizona Cardinals
The Cardinals are switching to a 3-4 base defense under new defensive coordinator Vance Joseph this year, so Hector will have to adapt to playing either defensive end or nose tackle with Arizona. Ford was probably going to get cut by the Cards, so this was a solid move to bring in more line depth on defense.
Fantasy impact
There is no fantasy impact to speak of here, as both Ford and Hector are mostly being brought in by their respective new teams for depth purposes.
