KENYAN DRAKE DEALT TO ARIZONA

The Arizona Cardinals acquired running back Kenyan Drake from the Miami Dolphins for a conditional sixth-round draft pick in 2020.

What does it give the Arizona Cardinals
The Cardinals are playing Thursday night against the undefeated 49ers and will be without their top two running backs (David Johnson and Chase Edmonds) due to injury. That is why Drake was acquired swiftly, with the hope he can play a big role immediately.

What does it give the Miami Dolphins
Miami was fully expected to trade Drake at some point this year, so it is no surprise here that he went just prior to the trade deadline. The Dolphins got a sixth-rounder (which might become a fifth) in return and will move forward with Mark Walton and Kalen Ballage at RB.

Fantasy impact
Drake's short-term fantasy value (this Thursday night, and that's it!) is decent, although playing against the Niners is usually a nightmare. Longer term, Drake will play behind both Johnson and Edmonds in Arizona. So, selling Drake now seems like the smart move. The big winner here is Walton, who was already seeing more playing time than Drake even before the trade.
