DARIUS SLAY SENT TO PHILADELPHIA

The Philadelphia Eagles acquired cornerback Darius Slay from the Detroit Lions for a third-round draft pick in 2020 and a fifth-round draft pick in 2020.

What does it give the Philadelphia Eagles
In Slay, the Eagles add a quality cornerback as a major addition to their depleted secondary. Philadelphia has struggled at the cornerback position (mostly due to injuries) in recent years, so the hope here is that the 29-year-old Slay can hold down the left cornerback position for the foreseeable future.

What does it give the Detroit Lions
The Lions were able to get two draft picks for their star corner, which is not a terrible return. Detroit has used free agency to help shore up the defensive side of the ball, including bringing in former Falcons defensive back Desmond Trufant as Slay's replacement at left corner. Will Trufant be able to match Slay's play?

Fantasy impact
Slay is a quality corner but he has only produced five interceptions since his career-best eight picks in 2017. Teams will likely continue to avoid throwing the ball to his side of the field, so at this point Slay is not a recommendable draft option in most IDP leagues.
