MINNESOTA MOVES FOR YANNICK NGAKOUE

The Minnesota Vikings acquired defensive end Yannick Ngakoue from the Jacksonville Jaguars for a second-round draft pick in 2021 and a conditional fifth-round draft pick in 2022.

What does it give the Minnesota Vikings
Adding Ngakoue to the opposite side of the defensive line from Danielle Hunter could pay huge dividends for Minnesota. Ngakoue essentially replaces Everson Griffen, who signed with the Dallas Cowboys as a free agent. Ngakoue is eight years younger than Griffen, so this is a very good move by the Vikings. They are getting closer to winning it all.

What does it give the Jacksonville Jaguars
Since Ngakoue wanted out of the Jaguars organization in an emphatic way, the team had no choice but to deal him. To that end, the Jags received a second round pick in '21 and a fifth rounder in '22. The latter pick could become a fourth or even a third, depending on whether Ngakoue re-signs with Minnesota and whether the Vikings win the Super Bowl.

Fantasy impact
In fantasy leagues that have independent defensive players (IDP) instead of team defenses, Ngakoue could be a solid pickup this year. He will be motivated to prove himself with his new teammates, as he continues to seek out a long-term contract.
