LAWSON, McKINNEY SWAPPED
The Houston Texans acquired linebacker/defensive end Shaq Lawson and a sixth-round draft pick in 2021 from the Miami Dolphins for linebacker Benardrick McKinney and a seventh-round draft pick in 2021.
What does it give the Houston Texans
For the Texans, Lawson should help the team with pass rushing opposite outside linebacker Whitney Mercilus. Generating more pressure off the edge will be even more important in 2021 since veteran defensive end J.J. Watt was released.
What does it give the Miami Dolphins
For the Dolphins, McKinney gives them a solid inside linebacker who is expected to line up next to Jerome Baker in the base 3-4 defense. McKinney is a quality run stuffer when healthy, but he played only four games last season because of a shoulder injury.
Fantasy impact
There is little fantasy impact here, as McKinney is mostly a fantasy one-trick pony (tackles), while Lawson may not generate enough sacks to be a fantasy-worthy option in IDP leagues.
