TEXANS TRADE FOR QB FINLEY
The Houston Texans acquired quarterback Ryan Finley and a seventh-round draft pick in 2021 from the Cincinnati Bengals for a sixth-round draft pick in 2021.
What does it give the Houston Texans
In Finley, the Texans land a mobile quarterback with limited upside. Deshaun Watson might be traded, so Finley could back up veteran Tyrod Taylor with Houston in 2021. However, either Watson (or whomever the Texans acquire if he were to be traded) should relegate Finley to third-string duties.
What does it give the Cincinnati Bengals
With Joe Burrow entrenched as Cincinnati's backup, and with Brandon Allen ahead of Finley on the depth chart, the Bengals decided to part ways with the latter. They did not get much in return, but Cincy is now in good shape at the quarterback position. Finley was never going to be a long-term solution.
Fantasy impact
There is nothing to see here, as Finley will continue to toil as a No. 2 or 3 quarterback in the NFL.
