CARDS GET KOLB FROM PHILLY

The Arizona Cardinals acquired quarterback Kevin Kolb from the Philadelphia Eagles for cornerback Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie and a second-round draft pick in 2012.

What does it give the Arizona Cardinals
Last season was mostly a write-off for the Cards due to major struggles at quarterback, so adding a quality starter in Kolb under center became the team's top priority. While he's far from proven as a regular leader of an NFL offense, Kolb is a far more talented option than the arms 'Zona looked to last season (including Derek Anderson and Max Hall). The Cardinals have already locked Kolb into a five-year, $63 million extension, so expect him to be under pressure to find chemistry with top wideout Larry Fitzgerald (who should return to elite status now) right away.

What does it give the Philadelphia Eagles
The Eagles are taking a mild risk here by moving a possible future star in Kolb, but starter Michael Vick was spectacular at times last season and Philly appears to be in win-now mode. Getting a 2009 Pro Bowler and a 2nd-round draft pick is a very good return for Kolb, and Rodgers-Cromartie fills a position of need (as the Eagles tied for the NFL's third-most pass TDs allowed last season, 31).
