HERNDON HEADS TO MINNESOTA

The Minnesota Vikings acquired tight end Chris Herndon and a sixth-round draft pick in 2022 from the New York Jets for a fourth-round draft pick in 2022.

What does it give the Minnesota Vikings
In Herndon, the Vikings land a decent tight end who will provide depth while Irv Smith Jr. is out with injury. Herndon should compete with Tyler Conklin for snaps for much of the 2021 campaign.

What does it give the New York Jets
Herndon entered training camp as the projected starting tight end. However, the new regime in New York decided to move on. The Jets were able to get a two-round upgrade for Herndon. Not bad.

Fantasy impact
Smith Jr. remains the only viable option at tight end for fantasy leaguers among Vikings, so both Herndon and Conklin do not need to be drafted this year.
