WENTZ TO WASHINGTON

The Washington Commanders acquired quarterback Carson Wentz and a second-round draft pick in 2022 (No. 47 overall) from the Indianapolis Colts for a second-round draft pick in 2022 (No. 42 overall) , a third-round draft pick in 2022 (No. 73 overall) and a conditional third-round draft pick in 2023.

What does it give the Washington Commanders
The Commanders were one of the NFL teams most in need of a quarterback upgrade this off-season. Is Wentz significantly better than Taylor Heinecke, though? Obviously, Washington is banking on Wentz to provide more big plays for their skilled position players. He can surely do that, but he can also implode with untimely mistakes that cost his team. This is a major gamble for Ron Rivera and co.

What does it give the Indianapolis Colts
Indianapolis soured on Wentz fairly quickly but the team's late-season collapse (with Wentz partly to blame for it) was likely the final straw. The Colts did fairly well here in terms of draft pick compensation, but they are now one of the teams most in need of a starting quarterback. Indy may choose to draft the successor to Wentz, or they could go the free agency or trade routes. The latter scenarios seem plausible.

Fantasy impact
Wentz gets yet another fresh start in 2022, and he is returning to the NFC East division (where he toiled for Philadelphia prior to moving to Indy last off-season). Wentz will continue to be a feast-or-famine dart throw in terms of fantasy quarterbacks. He is not a good fit for faint-hearted folks. That said, he still has plenty of talent surrounding him, so he is an option in most deeper formats.
