JONNU SMITH SENT TO ATLANTA
The Atlanta Falcons acquired tight end Jonnu Smith from the New England Patriots for a seventh-round draft pick in 2023 (No. 245 overall).
What does it give the Atlanta Falcons
Smith moves from a team that used two tight ends a ton (New England) to a team that will definitely use two tight ends a lot more. Kyle Pitts is still around but head coach Arthur Smith is a proponent of two-tight end sets. Jonnu Smith knows Arthur Smith very well from their time together in Tennessee.
What does it give the New England Patriots
The Patriots signed both Smith and Hunter Henry on the same day when free agency opened a few years ago, but they never took full advantage of their tight end talent. So, they decided to move one of them and save some salary cap space in the process. They did not receive much in return, though.
Fantasy impact
Jonnu Smith's fantasy stock can only move up reuniting with Arthur Smith, who is somewhat of a tight end savant in the NFL. Jonnu Smith is once again a recommendable draft option in most leagues for the 2023 campaign.
