SIMMONS SENT TO THE GIANTS
The New York Giants acquired safety/linebacker Isaiah Simmons from the Arizona Cardinals for a seventh-round draft pick in 2024.
What does it give the New York Giants
In Simmons, the Giants get a supremely athletic defender who has played both safety and linebacker at the NFL level. He struggled to find his niche with the Cardinals, so it will be up to New York defensive coordinator Wink Martindale to maximize Simmons' output in 2023.
What does it give the Arizona Cardinals
For the Cardinals, this deal acknowledges that Simmons never fully panned out. He was drafted eighth overall but struggled to find his best role on Arizona's defense. The Cards will take a late-round pick from the Giants and move on. They were not going to re-sign him anyway.
Fantasy impact
In IDP leagues, Simmons might have some value (especially if he qualifies at multiple positions (LB/S). However, he comes with lots of risk, too. It would be best to let someone else draft him.
