VIKINGS BRING IN DOBBS

The Minnesota Vikings acquired quarterback Joshua Dobbs and a conditional seventh-round draft pick in 2024 from the Arizona Cardinals for a sixth-round draft pick in 2024.

What does it give the Minnesota Vikings
With the Vikings losing Kirk Cousins for the rest of the season due to a Achilles tear the Vikings bring in Dobbs to be his replacement. While it will be tough for Dobbs to play up to the level Cousins has been playing at all year he had started all 8 games for Arizona until the trade. Minnesota is hoping he can be good enough for them to sneak into a Wild Card spot in the NFC. The seventh-round draft pick can become a sixth-round draft pick if unspecified conditions are met.

What does it give the Arizona Cardinals
The Cardinals announced on Oct.30 that Dobbs would no longer be the starter. With Kyler Murray getting closer to a return and Clayton Tune looking for an opportunity the Cardinals decided to give Dobbs a chance elsewhere. In return the Cardinals get a late round pick upgrade which is the best they could probably do when trading the third string quarterback on their depth chart.

Fantasy impact
The greatest impact this trade will have is on the Vikings wide receivers. Before the trade the only other healthy quarterback on Minnesota's roster was Jaren Hall. Still expect a drop off in the wide receiver production but Dobbs may help it be less drastic. Dobbs could also see a fantasy boost with better weapons around him.
