TEBOW TO GANG GREEN

The New York Jets acquired quarterback Tim Tebow and a seventh-round draft pick in 2012 from the Denver Broncos for a fourth-round draft pick in 2012 and a sixth-round draft pick in 2012.

What does it give the New York Jets
Tebow is an ideal fit for the Jets in three key areas: first, he's a perfect match for new offensive coordinator Tony Sparano's Wildcat / option offense; second, he fills a key leadership and chemistry void for a team that was highly dysfunctional in 2011; and third, he's a marketer's dream in the NFL's (and the world's) biggest media market. We'll still have to wait and see what happens with erstwhile clear starting QB {P Mark Sanchez} (who was recently signed to an extension), but it's hard to see Tebow not being the main man under center for the Jets very soon. Getting him for such a middling assortment of picks is a heist.

What does it give the Denver Broncos
Denver team boss John Elway clearly wasn't comfortable with a non-traditional quarterback, so {P Peyton Manning} was signed and moving Tebow seemed inevitable (if only to avoid a potential controversy of leadership in the locker room and with fans). This move may eventually haunt the Broncos (given Manning's age and health) and even if Manning wins them a Super Bowl it's hard to see a fourth- and a sixth-rounder being a good return for them for an asset of Tebow's stature.
