LYNCH TO SEATTLE

The Seattle Seahawks acquired running back Marshawn Lynch from the Buffalo Bills for a fourth-round draft pick in 2011 and a conditional fifth-round draft pick in 2012.

What does it give the Seattle Seahawks
The Seahawks have suffered this season from not having an effective change-of-pace / power back behind starter Justin Forsett--with the result being zero rushing touchdowns so far by their tailbacks. Enter Lynch, who is a close friend of Forsett from their college days together at Cal (which should prevent any controversy about roles). Lynch is still a talent who can give Seattle a quality inside runner who can also convert at the goal-line. It wouldn't be surprising if Lynch and Forsett start sharing carries fairly evenly going forward. The ineffective Julius Jones has been jettisoned to make room.

What does it give the Buffalo Bills
Buffalo gets draft picks here for their former first-round pick (No. 12 overall in 2007), and they also save money by getting rid of Lynch's contract. Moreover, this is a team chemistry move by the struggling Bills, who already have two very capable tailbacks in Fred Jackson (who was unhappy about a diminished role) and C.J. Spiller. Moving Lynch also lessens the chances of distractions, which he regularly caused with off-field trouble. Look for Jackson to become the Bills' primary ball-carrier, with Spiller working more on return duties and third downs.
