BRAYLON EDWARDS NOW A JET
The New York Jets acquired wide receiver Braylon Edwards from the Cleveland Browns for wide receiver Chansi Stuckey, linebacker Jason Trusnik, a fifth-round draft pick in 2010 and a conditional draft pick in 2010.
What does it give the New York Jets
In Edwards, New York gets a truly elite talent. With a rookie at the helm of their offense in QB Mark Sanchez, the Jets need a star-level target to complement the emerging Dustin Keller and the steady Jerricho Cotchery. This could be the start of a great tandem for many years to come, with Sanchez and Edwards.
What does it give the Cleveland Browns
Edwards needed a change of scenery aftr slumping following his 2007 breakout, and head coach Eric Mangini's regime has been anything but tolerant of players who underachieve and/or get into trouble (both of which happened with Edwards recently). Stuckey and Trusnik are far from stars but the Browns do have young Mohamed Massaquoi to take the place of Edwards. Still, they may eventually regret this deal.
