What does it give the Carolina Panthers
A special-teams performer and backup safety. Jones won't start or play much defense with the Panthers. He was acquired to shore up their special teams. If Jones sees considerable time in the Panthers' secondary in 2012, they're in trouble.
What does it give the San Francisco 49ers
A good return for a special teamer. The fact the Niners were able to land a draft pick of any kind for a second-year special teamer is very good asset management. They have plenty of options on special teams, and a great secondary.
Fantasy impact
Jones will impact Carolina's kick coverage units, but he won't make any fantasy impact whatsoever.
