JETS ACQUIRE RUNNING BACK IVORY

The New York Jets acquired running back Chris Ivory from the New Orleans Saints for a fourth-round draft pick in 2013.

What does it give the New York Jets
This was a solid move by the Jets. They needed help at the running back position after losing {P Shonn Greene} to free agency (Tennessee). They added {P Mike Goodson} to go along with {P Bilal Powell} and {P Joe McKnight}, but Ivory is more talented than all three of them. Ivory is the likely starter now and could be a true sleeper in 2013. It's time to see what Ivory can do as a feature back.

What does it give the New Orleans Saints
The Saints decided to move Ivory mainly because of their depth at the running back position ({P Mark Ingram}, {P Pierre Thomas} and {P Darren Sproles}), and received a decent asset in return in the fourth rounder. This is simply a numbers game situation because Ivory did show he belonged in the NFL during his sporadic usage in New Orleans. Now, they're giving him a chance to succeed elsewhere.

Fantasy impact
Ivory's fantasy value gets a major spike here as he'll likely be the Jets' No. 1 running back in 2013. This hurts the value of guys like Goodson, Powell and McKnight, who will continue to be change-of-pace or third-down backs if they stay with the Jets.
