JAGS MAKE ROOM FOR JOECKEL, MOVE MONROE

The Baltimore Ravens acquired offensive tackle Eugene Monroe from the Jacksonville Jaguars for a fourth-round draft pick in 2014 and a fifth-round draft pick in 2014.

What does it give the Baltimore Ravens
Great pickup here by the Ravens, who get struggling QB {P Joe Flacco} more protection and move on from their experiment with {P Bryant McKinnie} at left tackle. Flacco has been sacked 12 times in four games so far, and while McKinnie was excellent for Baltimore in their Super Bowl run he hasn't been great this season. Monroe can step in and shore up that key left tackle spot right away, providing Flacco with one of the NFL's better blindside protectors. This is a great value for two later-round draft picks.

What does it give the Jacksonville Jaguars
This move makes sense for the Jags in the financial column (since they save a lot of money moving Monroe) and in terms of long-term rebuilding (since they can move top draftee {P Luke Joeckel} over from right tackle to left, while adding some draft picks). Short-term, it obviously hurts. Monroe was one of the few quality offensive starters for by far the NFL's worst offense, so things only get worse for them. Look for {P Cameron Bradfield} to potentially take over at right tackle for Jacksonville.

Fantasy impact
For Baltimore this deal helps most of the Ravens' key offensive stars, including QB {P Joe Flacco}, RB {P Ray Rice}, and wideout {P Torrey Smith}. Equally, for Jacksonville this trade hurts the fantasy values of star RB {P=8474 Maurice Jones-Drew} (who is already struggling mightily this season), wideouts {P Cecil Shorts} and {P Justin Blackmon}, and whichever quarterback the Jags decide to go with moving forward (none of whom currently have much--if any--fantasy appeal).
