PHILLY PICKS UP KICKER PARKEY FOR RB FLUELLEN

The Philadelphia Eagles acquired kicker Cody Parkey from the Indianapolis Colts for running back David Fluellen.

What does it give the Philadelphia Eagles
Parkey wasn't exactly lights-out on field goal attempts in college, but he does a very nice job on kickoffs. That ability to do double-duty should give him an edge over fellow first-year kicker {P Carey Spear}, who hasn't done much to push incumbent {P Alex Henery}. Don't be surprised if Parkey edges Spear and sticks with the Eagles as a kickoff specialist and insurance policy for Henery.

What does it give the Indianapolis Colts
Fluellen has good size for a tailback prospect, making him a solid option on interior and goal-line runs, plus a promising blocker and receiver. If he can stay healthy Fluellen has a chance to work into Indy's backfield mix as a situational guy. Parkey was likely expendable because the Colts already have veteran {P Adam Vinatieri} lining up at kicker.

Fantasy impact
Even if Parkey sticks around with the Eagles it doesn't appear he'll push Henery much, but he should get work on kickoffs. If Parkey somehow ends up as the starter he'll be fantasy-worthy (since the Eagles will score copiously). Fluellen won't likely be a fantasy factor in Indy unless there's a rash of injuries in the backfield, and even if he somehow winds up playing regularly he's not fast at all (and so should remain a situational / role playing type).
