CHIEFS ADD S McCRAY FOR OG JOHNSON

The Kansas City Chiefs acquired safety Kelcie McCray from the Tampa Bay Buccaneers for guard Rishaw Johnson.

What does it give the Kansas City Chiefs
This deal is all about depth charts for both teams, and is usually the type of trade that will occur during training camp. Kansas City felt they needed to added a little depth at the safety position, so they hope McCray can deliver. He was a 15-game backup for the Bucs in 2013. He may emerge as the top backup to strong safety {P Eric Berry} by the end of training camp.

What does it give the Tampa Bay Buccaneers
As for Johnson, Tampa Bay is desperate for any help they can find at offensive guard. They're currently projected to start {P Oniel Cousins} and {P Jamon Meredith} and need to find alternatives (and overall depth). The Bucs felt far more comfortable about their safety situation, which is why they decided to move McCray at this time. This deal helps both teams, but not much.

Fantasy impact
There is no fantasy value to speak of here. McCray is not likely to start for the Chiefs, which would be the only way he'd enter the fantasy conversation. Johnson's guard play isn't likely to help Tampa Bay's running game, and their overall cloudy picture at both guard spots entering 2014 might be bad news for talented RB {P Doug Martin}.
