CURIOUSLY, JETS LAND WR HARVIN

The New York Jets acquired wide receiver Percy Harvin from the Seattle Seahawks for a conditional draft pick in 2015.

What does it give the New York Jets
It's no secret that the Jets need more playmakers on offense (and better overall talent, in general). Therefore, it makes some sense that they acquired one of the best playmakers in the NFL in veteran Harvin (who is still only 26 years old). What doesn't make much sense is the fact Harvin leaves the defending Super Bowl champions for the 1-6 Jets. That said, Harvin's acquisition is probably more about 2015 than this year. They didn't give up a lot to get him, either.

What does it give the Seattle Seahawks
For the Seahawks, this is mostly about dumping salary and moving on from a player that underachieved during his tenure in Seattle. Harvin needs touches to be most effective, whether as a receiver, returner or even as an occasional running back. That didn't occur often enough with run-heavy Seattle. Also, there are rumblings about Harvin's anger management issues, which may have also been a factor in this trade. The Seahawks may miss his presence on the field, though.

Fantasy impact
Clearly, Harvin's short-term fantasy value goes down by moving from Seattle (and quarterback {P Russell Wilson}) to New York (and quarterback {P Geno Smith}). However, he should see more targets. The big winners here should be {P Jermaine Kearse} and {P Doug Baldwin}, two wide receivers who should be more involved with the Seahawks' passing game going forward.
