RAMS REEL IN BACKUP QB KEENUM FROM TEXANS

The St. Louis Rams acquired quarterback Case Keenum from the Houston Texans for a seventh-round draft pick in 2016.

What does it give the St. Louis Rams
The Rams recently made a splash in the trade market by moving QB Sam Bradford to Philadelphia for QB Nick Foles. The arrival of Foles in St. Louis pretty much ensures Keenum will battle Austin Davis for backup duties, but Keenum is nonetheless a serviceable backup who will be ready to play when called upon. He has his moments when in a groove, so is a solid depth addition here by the Rams.

What does it give the Houston Texans
Houston has Brian Hoyer, Ryan Mallett, and Tom Savage at quarterback now so Keenum became the odd man out. The 2016 seventh-round pick isn't much of a return, but at least the Texans clarify their quarterback pecking order and drop some salary in the bargain.

Fantasy impact
Even if Keenum somehow finds himself starting games for the Rams it's hard to see him having much (if any) fantasy value. On the Houston side of things not much changes, although Hoyer's arrival obviously hurts the fantasy fortunes of Mallett and Savage.
