EAGLES TRADE BARKLEY TO THE CARDINALS

The Arizona Cardinals acquired quarterback Matt Barkley from the Philadelphia Eagles for a conditional seventh-round draft pick.

What does it give the Arizona Cardinals
For the Cardinals, this deal lands them a better No. 3 quarterback than either Logan Thomas or Phillip Sims in Barkley, whose stock has fallen steadily since entering the NFL. That said, Barkley was a highly regarded NCAA QB and might be able to salvage his career in Arizona (eventually).

What does it give the Philadelphia Eagles
For the Eagles, this trade helps to alleviate some of the logjam at the quarterback position. Now with Barkley gone, Sam Bradford will start with Mark Sanchez and Tim Tebow as the backups. The Eagles didn't get a lot in return for Barkley but they weren't in a strong bargaining position.

Fantasy impact
Barkley still has a little keeper value but he needs to prove he can be Carson Palmer's eventual heir apparent in Arizona. The biggest winner here is Tebow, who could be a factor for Philadelphia this season if he gets onto the field.
