BOLDIN NOW A RAVEN
The Baltimore Ravens acquired receiver Anquan Boldin and a fifth-round draft pick in 2010 from the Arizona Cardinals for a third-round draft pick in 2010 and a fourth-round draft pick in 2010.
What does it give the Baltimore Ravens
The Ravens absolutely needed a quality wideout in his prime to complement emerging quarterback Joe Flacco, and they get one here in Boldin. He will be their go-to guy now that vet Derrick Mason is gone (with Mark Clayton expected to start on the other side). Injuries aside, the play-making Boldin should be a huge boost to Baltimore's offensive scheme (considering running back Ray Rice led the team with 78 receptions last year). The fifth-rounder Baltimore gets (in what looks to be a deep draft) is a nice bonus. A very good move overall by the Ravens.
What does it give the Arizona Cardinals
This was a predictable move from the Cards. With superstar Larry Fitzgerald the team's go-to receiver and two very solid replacements waiting in the wings (in Steve Breaston Early Doucet) the injury-prone and expensive Boldin became expandable--especially after his long-standing complaints about his contract and his role. The Cards aren't likely to get a star with the third-rounder or fourth-rounder in 2010, but they at least improve team chemistry and save money by moving Boldin.
