PANTHERS SWAP PUNTERS WITH CLEVELAND

The Carolina Panthers acquired punter Andy Lee and a seventh-round draft pick in 2017 from the Cleveland Browns for punter Kasey Redfern and a fourth-round draft pick in 2018.

What does it give the Carolina Panthers
The Panthers recently lost punter Mike Scifres to a knee injury during preseason action, so Carolina decided to trade for veteran Lee. He is an upgrade over Redfern (who was competing with Scifres for the job).

What does it give the Cleveland Browns
The Browns land a quality draft pick in '18 in exchange for their punter, which is a good deal for a team looking to rebuild their roster over the next couple of seasons. Redfern will now replace Lee in '16.

Fantasy impact
Lee is better than both Scifres and Redfern but there is virtually no value for punters in fantasy football. Nothing to see here.
