BENGALS NAB NELSON FROM JAGS

The Cincinnati Bengals acquired safety Reggie Nelson from the Jacksonville Jaguars for cornerback David Jones and a conditional draft pick.

What does it give the Cincinnati Bengals
The Bengals recently lost a good backup safety in Gibril Wilson (who's out for the season due to a major knee injury) so Nelson gives them a promising replacement. If he can get his career back on track and get the most of his exceptional talent, Nelson could prove to be a steal. For now he'll likely be a backup to starting free safety Chris Crocker.

What does it give the Jacksonville Jaguars
The Jags decided they had seen enough of Nelson's frequent mistakes, which usually entailed getting burned on big plays due a lack of effective tackling. They give up on a very talented player here, but move on with the more dependable Sean Considine as the likely new starter at free safety. In return for Nelson, Cincy gets a solid backup corner in Jones, plus a draft pick that's unlikely to bring a player as talented as Nelson.
