GONZO TO FALCONS

The Atlanta Falcons acquired tight end Tony Gonzalez from the Kansas City Chiefs for a second-round draft pick in 2010.

What does it give the Atlanta Falcons
The Falcons haven't had a top-tier tight end option since Alge Crumpler left last summer, but Gonzalez would be an upgrade over any tight end. He gives rising star quarterback Matt Ryan a dependable outlet option who can stretch the field, which will only make the running game that much better and can keep Ryan from having to press when he's under pressure. A very cagey add.

What does it give the Kansas City Chiefs
The Chiefs may regret losing their longtime superstar, but new head coach Todd Haley is more of a deep-pass proponent than someone who utilizes the tight end. Gonzalez was unhappy last year in KC and clearly wanted a chance at a Super Bowl ring, something he'll get in Atlanta. The second-rounder won't likely bring another Gonzalez, but this move at least helps the new-look Chiefs move forward in rebuilding their team identity with youth.
