'YOTES TAKE A CHANCE ON TEEMU PULKKINEN
The Arizona Coyotes acquired winger Teemu Pulkkinen from the Minnesota Wild for future considerations.
What does it give the Arizona Coyotes
This is a good gamble for Coyotes GM John Chayka, mostly because Pulkkinen is a pure goal-scorer (and those are not easy to find in today's NHL). Now 25, Pulkkinen has struggled with the pace of the highest level, both with Detroit and Minnesota. A restricted free agent on July 1, Pulkkinen could be auditioning for his NHL life within the Arizona organization down the stretch.
What does it give the Minnesota Wild
There is a chance that the Wild could end up without anything in return for Pulkkinen, especially if he struggles in the coming weeks as a member of the Coyotes organization. Should that happen, Arizona will probably not tender a qualifying offer (which would make him an unrestricted free agent, and a likely candidate to return to Europe for 2017-18). Only time will tell.
Pulkkinen is now the deepest of dark horses in fantasy hockey, but still somewhat intriguing despite his failures in the NHL. Time is running out, though.
