FLYERS TRADE PICK FOR DIMITRAKOS

The Philadelphia Flyers acquired forward Niko Dimitrakos from the San Jose Sharks for a third-round draft pick in 2006.

What does it give the Philadelphia Flyers
The Flyers are pretty secure in the middle of the pack for a playoff spot, so they made this move to build their depth moving forward. The 26-year-old Dimitrakos is said to have a bit of a scoring touch, but it's mostly lain dormant in his three NHL seasons. It's possible that a change of scenery will bust out his skills and Philly figures to use him as a third-line winger, a bit of an upgrade over Turner Stevenson.

What does it give the San Jose Sharks
Eight points out of the hunt for a playoff spot, the Sharks decided to look toward the future here. A younger player can step into Dimitrakos' shoes, while they can also look ahead to the third-rounder.
