MONTREAL MOVES MIKE REILLY TO OTTAWA
The Ottawa Senators acquired defenseman Mike Reilly from the Montreal Canadiens for a fifth-round draft pick in 2021 and forward Andrew Sturtz.
What does it give the Ottawa Senators
In Reilly, the Senators add more depth for their injury-depleted blueline (they are currently missing Ron Hainsey, Nikita Zaitsev and Dylan Demelo due to injury). Reilly (26) has great wheels but he has yet to put it all together at the NHL level. He may get a greater shot in Ottawa.
What does it give the Montreal Canadiens
The Canadiens were not using Reilly regularly this season, and the club is carrying eight NHL defensemen on the roster. So, something had to give. The Habs land a fifth rounder in '21 for Reilly, plus Montreal accepted the contract of minor-league forward Sturtz.
Fantasy impact
Reilly can skate and move the puck, but his offensive game is very hit and miss. He is not worth owning at this time. Sturtz will likely remain in the minors indefinitely.
