The Toronto Maple Leafs acquired center Yanic Perreault and a (fifth-round draft pick in 2008) from the Phoenix Coyotes for defenseman Brendan Bell and a second-round draft pick in 2008.
What does it give the Toronto Maple Leafs
With injuries to Kyle Wellwood and Michael Peca, the Leafs were desperate for help at center and Perreault fills that role nicely. He's been the top face-off man in the league for years and can also help Toronto's 10th ranked power play.
What does it give the Phoenix Coyotes
A former junior star, Brendan Bell's now a depth defenseman who spent limited time at forward. He failed to stick full-time in Toronto and will have a tough time cracking the Coyotes' blueline once Wayne Gretzky's crew is completely healthy.
