COYOTES, RANGERS TRADE FIVE

The New York Rangers acquired winger Fredrik Sjostrom, goaltender David LeNeveu, left winger Josh Gratton and a conditional draft pick in 2009 from the Phoenix Coyotes for goaltender Al Montoya and winger Marcel Hossa.

What does it give the New York Rangers
Sjostrom essentially replaces Hossa, while Gratton adds even more muscle to the Rangers organization. LeNeveu will take over as the third-string netminder for the Blueshirts, though he doesn't have Montoya's upside. Hossa, Sjostrom, Gratton and LeNeveu hold limited value.

What does it give the Phoenix Coyotes
Montoya is probably the key player involved here, since he immediately becomes the Coyotes' goaltender of the future. For now, he'll likely continue to play a third-string role behind Ilya Bryzgalov and Mikael Tellqvist. As for Hossa, he'll add a little depth up front and could also be a valuable penalty-killer. What does it give NY Rangers?
