JARED STAAL TO THE 'CANES
The Carolina Hurricanes acquired winger Jared Staal from the Phoenix Coyotes for a fifth-round draft pick in 2010.
What does it give the Carolina Hurricanes
The Hurricanes hope the youngest of the Staal brothers can put it all together in the same organization where the eldest Staal brother (Eric) is the star attraction. Jared Staal hasn't done much since being drafted in 2008, but there's still time.
What does it give the Phoenix Coyotes
The Coyotes had decided against signing the 2008 second rounder (No. 49 overall), so at least they received something for Staal's rights. In terms of asset management, this isn't a bad fall-back option for GM Don Maloney. Staal was disappointing for Phoenix.
